Skydiving St Martin

Skydiving St Martin has always been on my bucket list. How about a jump from over 3000 meters (10,000 ft) over the Caribbean Sea. A bit hesitant, but ready nonetheless, I decided to give it a go. I must confess, I was a little scared but most of all super excited. Imagine jumping out of a plane above St. Martin

The training for your jump takes about a half hour, depending on how many questions you have. And believe me I had about a zillion of them! Your first jump is a Tandem jump, it allows you to enjoy all of the thrill and excitement of free falling. The Tandem master will be your silent partner, letting you have full control or you can just lay back and enjoy the ride. The plane can take two jumpers at the time along with the tandem instructors and the pilot. It takes of from Grand Case. I really wasn’t prepared for the small size of the plane.

Strapped to my Tandem master it was time for the jump. I was thinking: “Why did I ever want to do this”!, as I put on my goggles making my way to the open doorway. All the training instructions, that were taught to us, kept going through my mind. Then we let go and we were falling. The plane became smaller and smaller until we turned around looking straight down to St. Martin.

I was flying…with my arms wide open. The free fall lasted for about 30 to 40 seconds, then the parachute opened and we were dangling and started our descent. What a view….taking in the magnificent views of the island and neighbouring islands. Admiring the different shades of the blue tropical waters. We landed safely, my legs trembling from the pure excitement.

Skydiving St Martin is certainly a “Must Do” while vacationing on the island.
