Baie Oriental
The Caribbean’s very own French Rivier. Baie Oriental, or Orient Bay, could almost be a carbon copy of this famous region in France. Home to St Martin’s flagship beach, Baie Oriental has a stunning two mile stretch of lush silky sand, perfect for sun worshippers. Orient Beach is well developed and one of the most popular beaches on St Martin. Tanned bodies enjoying the hot sunshine flock here in there hundreds year round. No wonder it’s one of the most famous beaches in the Caribbean.
At Baie Oriental visitors can opt to remove their swimwear if they wish. Club Orient is the island’s only naturalist resort. Guests are free to relax in the sunshine free from any clothing at all if they wish. The beach immediately in front of Club Orient is publicly accessible should you wish to join the naturalists. Although most choose to stay within the resort, it’s not uncommon to encounter nude bathers anywhere along this beach. You have been warned.
Should you get hungry, you’ll never have far to walk. There are numerous beach bars and restaurants along the sea front. Choose from formal French cuisine and local dishes to pizzas and burgers. Baie Oriental is a lively area at night too. Take a stroll along the beach and you’re sure to find a venue that suits. Whether you’re looking for a late night dance or a cosy corner.
Over the past few years, Orient village has steadily grown from a small development centred around Orient Beach, to a charming neighbourhood offering everything you could possibly desire. Boutique resorts with private pools perched in the hillside frame Baie Oriental perfectly, capturing its authentic French character. It’s these luxury villas and apartments which provide accommodation for the majority of visitors to the bay.
