Little Bay Beach St Maarten

Little Bay Beach St Maarten, also known as Divi Little Bay, is located on the southern coast, between Great Bay and Indigo Bay. It is ideally situated next to Philipsburg the capital of Dutch St. Maarten. Little Bay Beach St Maarten is a perfect beach for families, with fine white powdery sand. However the stretch of sand can become narrow depending on the tide. Due to the calm waters, Little Bay Beach offers high underwater visibility and is well known as a scuba training and snorkelling location.

It is a perfect spot for student divers who want to freshen up their skills. Several hundred yards of the beach you will discover the Tiki Hut, anchored above an underwater reef. The location is just perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving or swimming. There are several small wrecks scattered around the dive site. You will also find an old sunken submarine and a helicopter. You can see schools of fish, spiny, lobsters, porcupine fish, trumpet fish, angelfish, barracuda, stingray, etc… A few bars and restaurants are available on the beach, operated by the two resorts on this beach.

Little Bay Beach St Maarten is located under Fort Amsterdam. Fort Amsterdam was erected in late 1630 by the Dutch to fight of the Spanish at the time. A winding cobblestone trail to the Fort begins at the far end of the beach. Fort Amsterdam boasts some of the most beautiful views of Philipsburg and surroundings.

To access the beach just follow the signs on the road for the Divi Little Bay resort or the Belair resort driving towards Philipsburg. If you are coming from Simpson Bay by car, make a stop on the parking above Indigo Bay to take pictures. The views of our neighboring islands are just stunning.  Make a stop coming down Belair hill, you will be able to admire the two adjoining bays, Great Bay and Little Bay, and take pictures of the cruise ships visiting the port of Philipsburg.
