The Lolos Of Grand Case
What on earth is a Lolo? The Lolos of Grand Case are typical local restaurants where you can taste the flavours of St. Martin’s local cuisine. If you want to have a local experience and enjoy a simple but delicious meal such as, barbecued ribs, grilled chicken, rice and peas, plantain and ultra fresh lobster or fish, then follow me to the Lolos of Grand Case, because that’s the place to be.
The main strip of Grand Case St.Martin/St.Maarten is an one way road that follows the shoreline and is filled with boutiques and restaurants on each side. On the North side of town you will find a public parking area. Park there and explore on foot. Just follow the mouth watering smell of barbecued chicken, ribs and Cajun spices. There are at least a half a dozen Lolos of Grand Case just a block away from the parking where you can find a great selection of local food served with large variety of delicious side dishes. As you walk towards Grand Case beach through the Lolos of Grand Case you can see all of their grills, meat smokers and warming plates.

For the best value and taste, I would say Scooby’s is simply the best. Their barbecue ribs are just out of this world because of the secret spices they use in their sauce. The whole fresh red snapper is moist and superb. The portions are very large so do not over order. Try out their Johnny cake, a St. Martin’s specialty, either baked or fried. Crab backs are also an island specialty, a crab and bread crumb mixture stuffed and baked in the crab back shell. For $8-$14 you can get a main plate of food served with 4-6 side dishes. The choice of sides vary from coleslaw, potato or pasta salad, garden greens, rice and beans or rice and peas and washing it all down with an ice cold beer for $1.50.

In my opinion, no matter how many restaurants you visit , a day in St.Martin’s/St.Maarten’s isn’t complete without a delicious meal at the Lolos of Grand case.
